History of Coggin & Fairchild
Jim Fairchild
President/CEO
Jim has been involved in remediation and groundwater reclamation for over 30 years. In 1984, upon graduation as a chemical engineer, he joined Ejector Systems, Inc., a afirm that designed remediation equipment for the clean up of contaminated ground water in Addison, Illinois.
In 1993, Jim quit his job and partnered with Ed Coggin, a civil engineer, to form a consulting firm specializing in ground water remediation and water treatment projects. In 1999, when Ed decided to leave the environmental industry and go back to civil engineering, he bought him out.
Eight years later, in 2007, Jim's decision to continue with Coggin & Fairchild as a one-person environmental consulting firm paid off. Jennifer Strawn reports in the January, 2008 issue of Water Well Journal on the company's Inc. 500 award, "Jim Fairchild is the first soloist to make the cut, let alone make it into the top quarter of the list... For difficult where he needs to be up to speed quickly, Fairchild can lean on a group of consulting firms and other contacts to help him find a solution to the client."
In 2007 Jim and his wife not only celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary, but 14 years of Coggin & Fairchild which had just made the INC. Magazine list of the 500 fastest growing privately held U.S. companies.
An Iowa-born farm boy who majored in Chemical Engineering, Jim Fairchild has stayed true to his roots: he understands the land and what chemicals can do to it. Based in the Chicago suburb of Elgin, his consulting firm advises clients in the construction and petrochemical industries about environmental cleanup, especially groundwater and soil remediation...companies turn to him to save money and reclaim land and building sites that can be put to commercial use.
